SamplePilot is a fast browser for your own samples that runs in your DAW as an instrument. Point it at the folders with your kits and packs (WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3) and it indexes them in the background — with a progress bar and a cancel button. The database stays on disk, so next time everything is there instantly, with no rescan. Search runs on its own thread and answers in a few to a few dozen milliseconds, even with hundreds of thousands of files.
Every sample gets a category (kick, snare, clap, hi-hat, 808, bass, vocal, FX and more) — from folder and file names, and when the name says nothing, from analysing the audio. Loops get their BPM, melodies their key, and 808 and bass one-shots their note. Filter by type (one-shot / loop), tempo and key (including compatible keys on the circle of fifths), add favourites, collections, tags and your own categories. SamplePilot also finds duplicates (the same sound under another name or in another format) and samples that sound alike.
Previews play through the plugin's output: browse the list with the arrow keys, and loops can play in your project's tempo (Repitch or Stretch, phase-locked to the bar), in your project's key and with matched loudness. You can also play the selected sample from a MIDI keyboard — chromatically or like a pad. When it fits, drag the row or the waveform straight onto a track in your DAW. Everything is local, no cloud and no account.
