Switch while it plays — both versions stay in sync. Shortcut: B.
Punch is a transient processor for drums and 808s: kicks, snares, claps and the whole drum bus. The defaults alone (Drum Bus, Attack +45%, Sustain −12%) give a clearly harder hit: on Jakub's beats the first 12 ms of every hit gets 3–4.5 dB louder and the attack-to-body ratio grows by 4–7.5 dB — with loudness (LUFS) within 1 dB of the input. You hear punch, not just “louder”.
Pick the source (Kick, Snare or Drum Bus) and the plugin sets its own detector, timing and bands. Two big knobs do the rest — Attack boosts or softens the hit (the boost holds for the whole Attack Time, so the entire hit with its body comes forward, not just the first 2 ms), Sustain lengthens or shortens the decay. Tail Length shortens long kicks and 808s on a smooth curve (low end only in Kick mode), and Low / High Emphasis decide where the processing happens.
Peak Guard (on by default) is a transparent look-ahead peak limiter: boosted attacks never clip your mix — True Peak stays below −1 dBTP. Auto Gain measures loudness after Peak Guard, so before / after comparisons are honest. Saturate and Clip with 2× oversampling. The hit scope shows the before / after envelope, the attack zone, a draggable tail marker and how much the attack and tail changed.
