Gate is two gates in one plugin. Noise Gate mode cleans up your tracks: it removes noise and bleed between vocal phrases, tightens kick, snare and tom tails, and silences guitar amp hum and hiss. Separate open and close thresholds (hysteresis) plus Hold keep the gate from chattering on decays, and Lookahead opens it just before the transient so the attack stays intact. The key filter (HPF/LPF with listen) lets it react only to the kick or only to the snare, an external sidechain drives the gate from another track, and Flip inverts it — instant ducking. Pattern mode is a trance gate locked to your DAW's tempo: 8 to 32 steps from 1/4 down to 1/32 (triplets and dotted values too), with the level of every step drawn with the mouse. Length, Attack and Release (as a percentage of the step) take it from a hard stutter to a soft pad pulse, Swing adds groove and Depth sets how deep it cuts. The position follows the DAW timeline, so in a loop or after scrubbing the pattern always lands on the same step, and S-curve transitions stay click-free even at 1/32. The display shows exactly what you hear: in Noise Gate a scrolling waveform with closed-gate regions shaded, both thresholds and a gain lane; in Pattern a step grid with the waveform at its place in the pattern, the real envelope and a playhead. For mix engineers, EDM and trap producers and podcasters.
