Fret is a guitar for trap, rap and pop beats: sad nylon melodies, acoustic chords, clean electric arpeggios, neo-soul grips and ambient washes. There isn't a single sample inside — every string is computed live by a physical model (a waveguide in two planes of vibration, tuning accurate to the cent, pitch-dependent losses, stiffness of wound strings, tension modulation on hard plucks). Every note sounds a little different, rings out naturally and responds to how hard you play.
You play from a MIDI keyboard and the plugin behaves like a guitarist: each note lands on one of six strings, the hand stays in one position on the neck, and a string never plays two notes at once. In Shapes mode any chord you play on the keys becomes a real 5–6 string guitar grip. Strum mode strums chords with a pick, down and up — the spread follows your velocity and fast strums alternate direction automatically. Lead mode plays hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides when notes overlap. The pitch wheel bends the string, the mod wheel adds finger vibrato. Plus palm mute, harmonics, sympathetic string resonance and subtle finger noise.
Five instruments: Nylon (classical), Steel Acoustic (body with wood and air resonances), Clean Electric (pickup, clean amp and cab), Jazz / Neo-Soul (flatwounds, neck humbucker) and Ambient (long sustain built for effects). At the end of the chain: compressor, tremolo, chorus, tempo-synced tape delay and reverb. The on-screen fretboard shows which strings and frets your notes land on.
